Granting Of A Master's Degree

Students who satisfactorily complete the requirements for the first two years of the doctoral programs are considered to have fulfilled the requirements for a master's degree in their specific field (the area of the qualifying examination, e.g., operations research, accounting, economics, etc.).

Students who leave the doctoral program after two years without having satisfied all of the requirements may petition the faculty (through the Ph.D. Committee) for the granting of a master's degree.

Each case will be considered individually, there being no presumption that two years in residence are necessarily sufficient to earn the master's degree.
