Teaching Requirement

To prepare students for professional teaching, doctoral candidates at the Tepper School of Business are required to teach a one-semester course before the end of the third year of the program.

Teaching assignments usually include undergraduate Economics courses, courses in the undergraduate Industrial Management program or courses in the Tepper School's MSIA program.

Assistance in developing effective teaching skills is provided by the Carnegie Mellon Teaching Center, by faculty members and by students with teaching experience.
