Waiting Lists

Minimum Grade Standard in Economics

All prerequisite courses for any economics course shall be completed with a grade of “C” or better in order for a student to be eligible to take the course.

Implementation of this policy will begin with enrollment in Spring 2008 courses.  Students who fail to receive a grade of “C” or better in a prerequisite will be dropped or not permitted to enroll in the associated economics course.  However, students who received a “D” in a prerequisite course in Spring 2007 term or earlier may petition for a waiver of this policy and to be enrolled in the course.

Transfer Credit Policy

Current students must petition for transfer credit approval before attending taking classes at another institution. In order to petition for transfer credit, the following documentation will be needed:

  • Course syllabus/description;
  • Course textbook, author, edition, publication date;
  • Course pre-requisites.

Should the petition be approved, it is incumbent on the student to provide the University's Enrollment Services with an official transcript that indicates that the student earned a "C" or better.

Transfer Credit for 73-xxx courses may only be granted by the Undergraduate Economics Program. Students who intend to petition for transfer credit must meet with Dr. Goldburg.

Waiting Lists

When a waiting list for a course exists:

  1. The Undergraduate Economics Program places students into the course based on primary major declaration and on seniority. This is a strict policy of the Program. Thus, OLR's waiting list number does not reflect one's actual position on the waiting list.
  2. Faculty members do not have the ability to place students into courses, so please don't ask them to.
  3. Students who do not have enough available units will be skipped over when clearing waiting lists.
