Global Student Loan Corporation (GSLC) and HSBC have designed a loan program to provide funding specifically for part time and full time enrolled students from India to attend U.S. schools. This solution enables you to borrow up to $50,000 per loan period (every two consecutive semesters enrolled) to pay for tuition, room, board, equipment and books. A U.S. cosigner is not required but you do need a credit-worthy cosigner from your home country of India. The loan will be reviewed for creditworthiness and approved by the bank, HSBC.
Features of the Global Student Loan® include:
1. No U.S. cosigner required – cosigner required from your country of origin
2. Borrow funds to cover cost of tuition, room, board, books and equipment
3. Borrow up to $50,000 annually
4. Take up to 15 years to repay your loan

Once you apply online via GSLC, Carnegie Mellon University, Tepper School of Business will receive an email from GSLC requesting the Office of Student Finance-Financial Aid to confirm your acceptance/enrollment information. Please allow 3-5 business days for processing to occur. You will then be able to review online via GSLC that the Office of Student Finance- Financial Aid certified your information. Once certified, the bank, HSBC, will begin the credit review process and notify you of your loan status. You should anticipate a minimum of 10-15 business days for process completion (this may vary depending on your application and specific circumstances.)
When HSBC reaches a credit decision on your loan, the Office of Student Finance-Financial Aid will be notified at the same time as you. When approved, you can consider the process complete and can subtract ½ of the approved amount from your Fall 2009 invoice. The loan will post to your student account before the start of class.
GSLC and HSBC are seeking to expand the program to include students from China, Korea, and other countries of origin selected from more than 80 countries in which HSBC operates around the world. As the GSLC and HSBC expansion progresses and we are informed, we will be sure to keep you updated.
