The Alpha Club is the only student organization at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University that is dedicated exclusively to investment management. We serve the needs of students who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of asset management, as well as others in the Tepper community who are simply interested in becoming better informed investors.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between lessons learned in Tepper’s rigorous academic curriculum and the real world management of investment portfolios. We also seek to identify and develop talented investment decision-makers who can make an immediate, positive impact at the firms they join upon graduation.
The club is responsible for managing the Tepper Opportunity Fund, a real money portfolio of US-listed equities. Other activities include guest speakers, trading contests, resume reviews, career guidance, Bloomberg training, and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program preparation.
Former Alpha Club members have gone on to successful careers at hedge funds firms, mutual fund houses, private wealth management shops, and other institutional asset management organizations. In short, Alpha is more than a club. It is a network that will stay with you long after your days at Tepper.
