Alissa Thomas MBA '10

Alissa Thomas is a second year MBA student and is a part of the Management of Innovation and Product Development track.  Prior to business school, Alissa worked at Merck and GSK in varying roles, including manufacturing supervisor, process coordinator, and business process improvement analyst.  Over the summer, Alissa interned with a consulting firm in their healthcare practice, focusing on the multi-year strategy of a major health insurance company.

Surya Viswanathan MBA '10

 Surya Viswanathan is a full time MBA student at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business. Prior to Tepper, she was a founding employee of Proteopure, a startup biotechnology company developing tools for proteomics research. She led development of the company’s first product. Her exposure to fundraising, marketing, business development and strategic planning at the startup helped her discover her true passion – the business of science. Surya also consulted for LaunchCyte, a biotechnology incubator, where she conducted due diligence on some novel technologies. Her MBA will focus on Strategy, Marketing and Finance. Surya holds a B.Sc. in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Mumbai (India) and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, with a specialization in Cell Biology and Proteomics.

Prathib Skandakumaran MBA '10

Prathib Skandakumaran is an MBA student at Carnegie Mellon University. While at Tepper, he has been active with the angel investment group BlueTree Capital Group where he performs due-diligence and manages deal flow for various early-stage companies. Prior to business school, Prathib was an R&D scientist at the carbon and graphite materials company GrafTech International. Prathib also has startup experience at the voice-over-IP company VxTel Inc., which was acquired by Intel Corp. He holds a BS in Bioengineering from University of California, Berkeley and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona. In addition, Prathib holds 4 issued US patents and 2 pending US patents in the area of advanced materials and heat transfer. He is interning at the medical device startup ClearCount Medical Solutions this summer.

Nitasha Khanna MBA '10

Nitasha Khanna, completed her BS from University of California at Riverside in Biochemistry with a concentration in medical sciences. After graduating, she worked as a Business Analyst for a business research firm in Delhi and later in the Business Development division of a biotech company also in Delhi. At Tepper, she is a part of the Biotechnology track and is concentrating in marketing. She will be working as a Marketing Management Associate at Merck over the summer.

Zach Nobis-Olson MBA'10


Zach Nobis-Olson is an MBA student at Carnegie Mellon University. While at Tepper, he has been active with the the technology start-up company Bueda, advising them on corporate finance decisions, investor funding, and general business strategy. Prior to business school, Zach worked as a Product Manager for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly.com, where he focused on developing products and business relationships to drive advertising revenue. He holds BA with Honors Distinction in English Literature from University of Illinois. He is interning at US Cellular in Chicago this summer in a strategy role to analyze the company's pricing structure.

Brian Zachary Beatty MSBTM '10

Zach is a second year Biotechnology Management student at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to graduate school, he obtained his BS in the Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon's Mellon College of Science. Zach interned at Complexa, a biotechnology start up in Pittsburgh, PA working on business strategy and creating a business plan for the company.
