The BBA traveled to Washington, DC to attend the 2008 National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) conference. Many of us were able to secure full-time and internship offers from the employment network, others were successful in conducting first-round and final-round interviews. The conference provides an excellent opportunity to get a head-start on interviewing and recruiting for both internships and full-time employment.
This year marked the first year when over 30 Tepper students attended the conference. The BBA proudly hosted a preparatory session for students planning to attend the conference.
A group of BBA members decided to take the plunge and go skydiving over western Pennsylvania. A similar trip is planned for Spring 2009.
The BBA hosted Tepper's first Kwanzaa celebration in 2007. Through the lighting of the Kwanzaa 7 candles, the celebration recognized The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa", or Nguzo Saba: Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith.
Because of the tremendous success of the 2007 celebration, the BBA has made the Kwanzaa Celebration an annual event.
Several of the BBA members travelled to Boston, MA in February 2008 to attend the Africa Business Conference sponsored by the Harvard Business School.

In celebration of Black History Month, the BBA sponsored Tepper's B**rs event. B**rs is a Tepper tradition in which students get together on Friday afternoon at school to unwind and relax after a long week of classes. BBA provided food for students, delivered a Black History Month presentation and engaged students in a Black History Month trivia game.
BBA organized Tepper’s first trip to South Africa in which 27 Tepper and Heinz students and faculty traveled to South Africa where they visited prominent companies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to learn about the political, social, and economic issues concerning doing business in South Africa. They also went to the bush (safari), sunbathed at the beach, and connected with Tepper alumini who live and work in South Africa. (View Story)
