Case interviews are an essential part of any consulting interview. Usually, the interviewer is not looking for a particular answer but looking for your thought process and your structure to see whether it is analytical and creative.
Experience really counts here. As a Tepper MBA student, interviewers expect you to have intuitive understanding about business strategies, marketing, financial statements and projections, and how to apply what you're learning in the classroom to solving real-world problems.
You'll get this in part from your classes and your previous work experience, but a successful consulting candidate has practiced hundreds of cases before her first interview.
Other qualities being assessed during a case interview also include presentation skills, communication skills, organizational skills, energy level, and maturity.
