Past Events and Programs

Here are just a few examples of events and programs that Net Impact has organized or attended in the past. Following in the spirit of the Tepper community as a whole, any member can plan a Net Impact event- all that you need is an idea, and the Net Impact board will help you plan the event and get funding.

Net Impact National Conference

In 2007, Net Impact sent a delegation of 12 students to attend the Net Impact National Conference, held at Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Business. The costs of our trip was subsidized through a generous grant from Alcoa.

ISI Mixer

Net Impact hosted a mixer with CMU Heinz school of Public Policy's Institute for Social Innovation students to try to connect budding social entrepreneurs with business students who might be able to help them get their ideas off the group.

Recent Speakers

Larry Hokaj, CTO of the Pittsburgh Food Bank, came to speak about his experience going down to the New Orleans Food Bank in the wake of hurricane Katrina.

Bill Perkins, Heinz School graduate student and certified presenter for The Climate Project, presented "It’s Time to Act: The Scientific and Economic Reality of Climate Change," a fast-paced highly visual presentation on the science of the issue, the current and future impacts around the globe, and the root causes of the collision between our civilization and the environment.

Green Building Tour & Discussion

Net Impact members took a tour of Medrad's brand new green building that they built as their headquarters, and discussed the decision to go green with their global facilities director.

Net Impact worked with CMU’s Solar Decathlon team to analyze the market for a solar-powered house.
