On February 27, 2014 three doctoral student awards were presented at a special Afternoon Tea.
Stylianos Despotakis received the 2014 Egon Balas Award for the Best paper in Operations Research/Algorithms, Combinatorics & Optimization for his paper "Expertise and Sniping in Online Markets".
Nobel laureate Finn Kydland presented the 2014 Alexander Henderson Award for Excellence in Economics Theory to Batchimeg Sambalaibat. Four previous winners of this award have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize in Economics, including Professor Kydland. Ms. Sambalaibat's paper is entitled "Essays in Financial Economics: CDS and Sovereign Bond Market Liquidity, CDS as Sovereign Debt Collateral, Currency Risk and Pricing Kernel Volatility".
The 2014 Gerald R. Salancik Doctoral Dissertation Award was presented by Professors Linda Argote and Taya Cohen to Organizational Behavior student Jin Wook Chang for his paper "Perils of High Status: The Effect of Group Status on Information Sharing".
