Business Analytics

Can business analytics be your competitive advantage?

As the sheer volume of data explodes and analytic methods grow ever-more sophisticated, the knowledge required to harness this data for better decision-making becomes increasingly complex.

The road to return on business analytics is not simple, but the performance gap between companies that have achieved that edge – using previously unavailable insights into pricing, customer relationships, inventory, supply chain visibility, segmentation and customer behavior – can be significant. The Tepper School of Business can help you gain these insights and translate them into meaningful results.

Program Overview

This is a pragmatic, actionable program that works from the perspective of achieving the promise of analytics through decisions that are proactive and driven by insight. The Program Faculty present essential insights into data opportunities and models that managers must capitalize on in order to champion and realize the value of analytics.

Topics Include:

  • Data Competitiveness - Unlocking the potential to leverage data for competitive advantage
An integrated understanding or the ‘business analytics ecosystem’: data opportunities, model quality, and how you as decision makers incorporate new insights into decision processes that lead to competitive advantage through analytics.
  • Models for Business Analytics and their Managerial Implications
What do we need to understand about models and their ability to mediate the transition from data to decisions?  What are their limitations?
  • Pragmatic, interactive discussions of Business Analytics opportunities in Operations/Supply Chain and Strategic Marketing
What information are you NOT using that can be driven into the decision process?  What opportunities are there to jumpstart and further mature your use of analytics?  What new streams of data can provide valuable insights for decision makers?
  • Big Data
What is the potential for turning Big Data into ‘Big Decision’?  What are the enabling technologies and challenges to realize the potential of Big Data?
