Call for Research Proposals (Spring 2014)

Small Research Grants

The PNC Center for Financial Services Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 2013 to stimulate the advancement of financial services through technological innovation. Technologies like online banking, mobile devices and social media provide new, rich environments to learn about and influence consumer behavior. The Center wants to encourage research that can use these environments to improve consumer experiences of financial services and promote new technologies that can deliver these experiences to the consumer. To foster this research the Center is offering funding for small research grants.

The Center expects to issue calls for small research proposals twice a year, during each of the Spring and Fall semesters. Additionally, the Center expects to annually issue a request for large research proposals in the Fall. Funding of research grants does not preclude proposals for future research Center funding, and successful completion of previous proposals will be viewed favorably in evaluating future proposals.

The Center is interested in proposals that relate to any of the following areas:

  • Marketing of financial services
  • Consumer behavior related to financial decision making
  • Consumer privacy of electronic and mobile commerce
  • Machine learning of financial transaction data
  • Computer assisted financial decision making
  • Financial services in a mobile environment
  • Evaluating financial transactions in a social network

Eligibility: All faculty who are employed full-time at Carnegie Mellon University in any of the teaching, research, tenure or librarian/archivist track positions are eligible to apply. PhD, Master, and Undergraduate students may apply as co-applicants if an eligible faculty advisor agrees to serve as the principal applicant.

Current Call for Proposals Deadline: Proposals must be received by April 27, 2014. Please send inquiries or questions to PNC-center@andrew.cmu.edu.
