'07 Deutsche MSCF Trading Competition

Deutsche 07 Trading CompetitionOut of 118 traders, Nanjun Hu was named Top Trader, ranking No. 1 and No. 3 respectively in two rounds, and winning a $1,000 prize. Yuan-Min Tang and Pinchao Lu also won cash prizes, coming in second ($500) and third ($250). Rounding out the Top Ten were: Ho Lun Poon, Zhannan Zhang, Yiping Wan, Arsa Oemar, Deborah Leung, Jason Tufo and Xiaojuan Hu.

Following a series of practice sessions, each participant traded individually in two market cases, designed to let traders experience the manner in which the fixed income and equity markets interrelate. Winners were determined by their performance in managing both risk and return. "The  competition was intense," said Tepper professor John O'Brien, a co-author of the Financial Analysis and Security Trading software and faculty supervisor of the competition. "In two rounds of trading, more than 480,000 transactions were generated. The virtual trading platform creates a real
financial market, giving students valuable experience as active members of the 'trading crowd.'"

Deutsche Bank, the competition's sponsor, honored this year's winners at a special Wall Street reception in New York City on Oct. 23, 2007.
