Boualam

Yasser Boualam, originally from Morocco gained entrance to ENSIMAG (Grenoble, France), a top tier French Grande Ecole, in 2004, after studying mathematics and physics in the "classes préparatoires" at Lycée Janson de Sailly. At ENSIMAG, Yasser majored in applied mathematics and computer science with a specialization in financial engineering. Prior to joining MSCF, Yasser did a collaboration in asset market micro-structure research based on Extreme Value Theory at ESSEC Business School in Paris and interned for three months at AXA Investment Managers where he designed historical estimation methods for interest rate models. Upon graduating from MSCF, Yasser will a pursue a career in derivatives strategy and trading. This summer, he will intern in Deutsche Bank’s Global Markets division in London in their rotational program. Yasser’s personal interests include online social networks businesses. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and tennis.  

David-Benjamin Brakha grew up in France. He graduated from Paris-Dauphine University with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Applied Mathematics with a specialization in Financial Mathematics. In 2005, he was one of the recipients of the Goldman Sachs Global Leader Award, an international program which identifies and rewards the academic excellence, leadership potential, global perspective and personal character of 100 of the world's most accomplished second-year students. In 2007, he was honored as a StartingBloc Fellow and took part of the Global Institute for Social Innovation at London Business School. By connecting emerging leaders, StartingBloc aims at driving positive change across sectors. David is interested in trading and looks forward to applying the quantitative finance tools and skills acquired in the MSCF program in an investment bank or an asset management company. David speaks four languages and enjoys traveling. His interest in politics and international issues led him to take part in the French presidential campaign in May 2007 as a member of the junior leadership volunteer team.

Cai

Junfu Cai received his Bachelor of Science in Computing from National University of Singapore (NUS) where he graduated as a Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medalist, the highest honor given to graduating students. At the Machine Learning Lab at NUS, he conducted research on developing Bayesian Models for natural linguistic problems and successfully published papers in major machine learning conferences. After an internship at Credit Suisse, Junfu became interested in applying his machine learning skills to finance which motivated him to pursue a degree in computational finance. This summer, he will be joining Fixed Income Trading at BNP Paribas in Tokyo as a summer intern. Junfu is a fervent bridge player. He also enjoys traveling and photography.

James Chae received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with concentrations in Finance, Accounting and Information Management. After school, he was a Manager at both Arthur Andersen and Deloitte Consulting where he consulted globally to Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, HP and Agilent on strategic technology projects. His interest in finance led him to a private equity fund in San Mateo, CA where he performed analysis and due-diligence of investments. His professional goal is to work with structured derivatives; the MSCF program was the logical next step in developing the necessary quantitative skills. During the summer, James will be in London interning with Deutsche Bank Global Markets. ChaeJames

Chang

Li-Wei Chang holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University. During her graduate years, she developed a novel method for real-time view transition between two cameras having different perspectives. She also interned as a part-time research engineer for six months at Groundhog Technologies Incorporation, where she designed an approximation algorithm for the generalized assignment problem. Li-Wei hopes to apply both her quantitative and computer skills toward a future career in products trading and valuation. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, playing table tennis, and card/board games.

Siyan Chen received her Master’s degree in Economics from American University and her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Shanghai International Studies University. Before joining the MSCF program, Siyan worked as a consultant at the Development Economics Research Group of the World Bank, where she carried out full-scale research projects in poverty alleviation, forecasted trajectories of energy use in China and India, developed statistical models, conducted econometric analysis, and analyzed simulation results. Siyan is currently a CFA Level III candidate. Upon graduation from the MSCF program, Siyan would like to work for a financial services firm focusing on research, risk management or asset management.

Chen S

Chen NY

William Chen graduated with BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to joining the MSCF program, William worked in Countrywide as a Senior Financial Analyst performing mortgage related analysis, monitoring and reporting. He also worked for Deloitte Consulting LLP as a Management Consultant on numerous statistical modeling, business process, operations, and strategy projects. His main areas of interest include fixed income derivatives and securitized products. Upon completion of the MSCF program, William intends to pursue a sales and trading position in an investment bank or a junior portfolio management position in a fixed income hedge fund. This summer, he will be working at Morgan Stanley as a Summer Associate in fixed income sales and trading.

Hannah Dai grew up in Fuzhou, Fujian Province in the Southeast part of China. Hannah received her Master's Degree in Finance and her Bachelor's degree in Risk Management and Insurance from Peking University in Beijing, China. Before joining the MSCF program, Hannah worked as an intern for Beijing Gao Hua Securities, a Goldman Sachs subsidiary in China, where she conducted industry analysis and company valuations. Hannah also worked as an intern for the financial engineering team of Magnetar, a U.S. hedge fund, where she assisted the quantitative team in building CDO models and authored the CDO models user guide for traders. Her internship experiences also include a summer internship in China's biggest local investment bank CICC. Hannah ranked 1st in her undergraduate department and is a CFA Level II candidate. This summer she will work as a summer associate for UBS Fixed Income Sales and Trading in Stamford, Connecticut. Hannah enjoys studying Chinese antiques, reading and various sports.

Dai

Damaj

Oussama Damaj grew up in Lebanon, graduating with honors from the American University of Beirut, where he completed a double major in Finance and Accounting and a minor in Mathematics. While completing his undergraduate degree, Oussama worked at Ernst & Young with the Business Advisory Solutions group, where he was involved in financial and management consulting. Meeting the demands of a full-time undergraduate education, a leadership position as a student representative, and a thirty-hour a week internship at Ernst & Young provided him the multi-tasking experience needed to excel on a trading floor at a top-tier investment bank. In addition to pursing the academic rigors of the MSCF program, Oussama serves as one of the three leaders of the Quantitative Finance Club on the MSCF New York campus.
