Introduced in 1994, Carnegie Mellon University's pioneering Master of Science in Computational Finance (MSCF) is considered by many today to be the top quantitative financial engineering program in the country. Online MSCF students take the same classes as our resident students but do so remotely. Our cutting-edge interactive video technology will allow you to:
Online MSCF degree students receive the same diploma as our resident full-time and part-time students with the flexibility to study from home or work. Students complete a total of 25 courses over 12 mini-semesters to earn their degree. With the exception of the first mini-semester, two courses are required per mini. Check out the Online MSCF Course Sequence for class descriptions and curriculum details.
Successful online Master in Computational Finance degree candidates must have a minimum of two years relevant work experience and be located more than 50 miles from our New York City and Pittsburgh campus locations (online students living within a 50-mile radius must take certain classes and sit for exams on campus). There are also some necessary technical requirements for participation including access to high-speed internet, an approved laptop and webcam. Otherwise, admissions eligibility standards for our online students are the same as those for our resident full-time and part-time students. Tuition for the 2013 - 2014 academic year is $3,372 per course, plus an annual $370 technology fee.
Students receive similar career services to those available to our resident, part-time students including:
While many of our online students will wish to remain in their current location upon completion of the degree, students may travel to New York or Pittsburgh for on-campus job and internship interviews.
