Graduates from MSCF work exclusively in the financial services industry. Careers vary but usually revolve around derivatives pricing and trading, financial risk management, structured products, analytics software development, and quantitative portfolio management. Some develop proprietary trading strategies for the hedge funds. Some start their own financial software firms. A number build and assess risk management models for large banks and brokerage firms. One manages a credit derivatives desk, another trades bond options at one of the large, NY-based investment banks, another is involved in fixed income research, another is an options trader on the floor of the AMEX. A few have gone to work in the sophisticated treasury departments of global corporations or taken financial consulting positions with the large management consultants.
Our graduates have been well received in the marketplace, taking positions with financial institutions, financial consulting firms and hedge funds. 83% of the class of 2005 were placed by graduation, 100% within three months of graduation.
